In the heydays of motorcycling, riders cherished the sensation of freedom and openness that comes with riding a two-wheeler. Back then, it was okay to just wear a pair of bike riding goggles and beer hand gloves: that was all the riding safety gear you would have needed. But now, experience has taught us that helmets are unavoidable. The law has also mandated the use of helmets not just for the rider but also for the pillion rider. But not to worry, if you still want to feel the complete freedom of riding a two-wheeler like the bikers of the past, you can still do that!
Here is how you can add bike riding goggles in your ensemble and enjoy the wind on your face just a little bit more. Prepare your helmet Most traditional full-face helmets do not have the space to accommodate bike riding goggles. For that, you are going to need an open face helmet, or even better a modular helmet that allows you to flip up the visor and chin section, or completely remove it (flip-off helmets) making space for the goggles. If you have an open face helmet, remove the visor carefully and keep it safe for later use. Now you are ready to wear a pair of bike riding goggles with your helmet. NOTE: We strongly recommend that you get a visor-less open face helmet to use with goggles instead of tweaking your helmet to ensure that none of the safety features are compromised in the process. 1. Driving Goggles Driving goggles are a great choice for daily commutes as it provides higher contrast making it easier to see things in all lighting conditions. An additional tint on the goggles protects your eyes from UV rays and also reduces strain on the eyes even under long riding conditions. Driving goggles come with a strong strap that strongly secures the goggles to your head. 2. Protective Goggles As the name suggests, these goggles offer best protection. These also have enough space to use with your far-vision prescription glasses if you absolutely need them while riding your two-wheeler. This is a great option for any rider who needs prescription glasses. These goggles do come with proper weather sealing so these will prevent any rain water or dust from getting inside the eyes. 3. Biking Goggles Finally, for off-road riding, biking goggles are highly preferred. What makes these special is the superior protection against mud and small stone chips which can fly into your eyes especially if you have someone riding in front of you. Biking goggles are specialty riding safety gear that are preferred by pros off-roaders and adventurer bikers, but if you prefer you can wear these for daily commutes as well. Additional features in bike riding goggles Once you've decided upon the type of bike riding goggles that suit you best, you need to look for these additional features to get the most value out of your investment.
