Planning to go out on a long road trip with your friends, but don't have a huge budget? No worries, we have some special tips and techniques up our sleeves that we want to share with you which will make your dreams of exploration come to even on a shoestring budget.
Minimise food expenses Ask any Pro Explorer about the maximum amount of expenses they incur on road trips, and you will get one common answer from all of them: it's the food expenses! The simplest way to cut down on your food expenses is by planning properly and getting raw materials with you that you can cook yourself. if you are planning a short road trip that will last less than a week, then you can carry packaged food which can be heated and consumed. But if you have a long-term plan to be on the road, then there is no other alternative than to have your own stove and vegetables and cooking supplies that you can prepare at your own comfort and for a very tiny fraction of eating at hotels and restaurants. Ride economically The second highest expense tourist and Cruises incur is on their fuel. When you ride enthusiastically, your bike will burn a lot of fuel and therefore cost you more too. There are times when you will want to accelerate out from behind a truck or other slow-moving vehicle but for most part Make sure to ride slowly and economically so that you save upon your fuel expenses in the long run. A good way to maintain high mileage on your motorcycle is to never exceed 6000 RPM on your motorcycle. If your bike does not have an RPM gauge, then you can maintain a speed of 60 to 80 kilometers per hour which is very good for cruising speed. Another good way to maintain high mileage on long road trips is to go for a high capacity touring motorcycle and ride it at a high gear and low RPM and using the clutch as less as possible, unless you are within city limits and you need to thread through small gaps in the traffic. Make smart investments on riding safety gears The third thing where you can save money is with your safety gear. Don’t cut corners on the quality of riding gears but do not end up paying for features you do not really need. For example, the best branded helmets come with adequate safety measures that will keep you safe in the event of an accident. Most high-quality motorcycle helmets have ISI certified safety aspects which is all you need. But there are also things such as Bluetooth connectivity and music listening features that you probably do not need to stay safe! You can cut down your expenses by not spending on such features. The same can be said for motorcycle riding gloves and jackets. These are good as long as you opt for reputed brands. Minimizing expenses on the road Invest in some motorcycle luggage boxes and bags. These will allow you to carry everything you need for the trip, otherwise you will end up spending money on small things which you can easily plan ahead and carry with you. Having a pair of luggage bags is a smart move that we recommend for every rider planning either a group ride or a solo ride.
