Planning to travel with a baby? The first advice and the most important of them all that are about to come after this is that you should not be travelling long distances by road with a baby younger than three years of age because their bodies are not equipped yet to handle the physical demands of being in constant motion. Consider going by train, or better yet take a flight.
If your baby is older than 3 years, here are 5 parenting hacks that you can apply to make your trips and Journeys less stressful and more fun for everybody! Make it all fun and games Kids her very tiny attention span and they get bored very easily full stop when that happens everything else becomes a lot more problematic for you to manage. it is important that you keep your kids engaged in something while you or your spouse focuses on the road ahead! you don't need to carry an entire play school with you, but make sure that you pack a few different games and a sketchbook with some color pencils to keep your kid busy on the road. Gamify the experience and tell your kid that the best painting will earn them a special ice-cream or that special toy that he or she has been asking for. That way you will keep your kid motivated and focused on the task rather than annoying you constantly. Avoid everything that stresses you Travelling by road with a small kid is quite stressful in itself so you don't need any additional factors to increase your stress levels. While it is quite possible to strap a toddler to the rider’s chest or to the pillion rider’s back, taking a baby on a motorcycle for long distances is not quite recommended. you can however do 200-300 kilometer with ample of breaks in between but even then, choosing a car might be the better option of the two. If you are up for the challenge of taking a baby on a two-wheeler, make sure to invest in high quality riding safety gears and branded motorcycle helmets for both the rider and the pillion rider (which in most cases will be the baby's mother) along with a good quality baby strap that you or your wife can affix on the torso to keep the baby positioned safely and securely during the ride. Never make the mistake of putting the baby on your wife’s lap especially if you are considering a long trip. Cover the most distance in the afternoon Children are usually less active during the afternoon after they have had their lunches. your kid may be different, so observe the energy pattern of your child and plan your ride during such a time period when the child is least active. This will make focusing on the road easier because your child will most probably be sleeping in the back seat of the car or in the baby strap if you are travelling by a motorcycle. Having said that, always make it a priority to end your rides with natural light remaining in the sky. It is not advisable to continue riding after sundown under artificial lighting because things become much more challenging in the darkness, and with the fatigue of riding throughout the day you may not be in the peak of your decision-making state. So, don't leave anything to chance and end the ride before 9 p.m. in the afternoon. Have plenty of buffer time Kids have nothing to worry about making a destination on time, so it is quite possible that your kid might have a toilet emergency in the middle of the road or they may take a lot of time to get ready in the morning. Instead of making the trip a hassle for them, let them enjoy the ride at their own pace. what you can do instead is to plan everything with a lot of buffer time so that even if your kids create a delay you don't have to rush for anything. Make comfort the first priority Kids usually do not need a lot of space to feel comfortable but it is up to you to make things even more comfortable for Dam. After all, you don't want them to remember the trip as something of a hassle that they do not want to relive again! Pack light and keep a lot of space in the boot and rear seating area so that your kids have enough space to move around at their will and not feel cramped.
